Hello Croft Community,
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the Substation last night – and a powerful reminder of the community, the teachers, and kids we are fighting for. It has been another busy day as we drive towards the finish line of our short-term goal of raising the funds necessary to keep the Croft-JP Campus operating through June.
Here are some important updates on our short term goal:
- Fundraising: As of 4:30PM today (when we received our last update from the accounting firm) we had collected $650,000! The accountant said he had never seen a fundraising effort come together so quickly before. We also know that many wires and checks were submitted at school later in the day or after banks closed; those will be reflected tomorrow. By any measure, in less than a day, we’ve made incredible progress. Let’s get to the finish line. We want to reach our goal of fully funding Croft JP through June as quickly as possible to give the entire community peace of mind. To get us there, let’s build on this momentum: we ask everyone who pledged to work with our Fundraising Team and keep those pledges coming in!
- Friends of JP Education: The non-profit board overseeing the escrow account funding the school will have its first meeting tomorrow to establish the formal procedures for approving the payment of invoices. The funds we raise can only be spent on the payroll and operating costs needed to keep Croft JP open until June; what is not spent will be returned to donors. Given the urgency of keeping the school open, these parents quickly volunteered to take on this administrative responsibility:
- Tim Cummings, President
- JohnPaul McBride, Treasurer
- Sheryl Howard, Clerk
- Meredith Boak
- Erik Hasenoehrl
- Nathan Davis Hunt
- Will Thiel
The role of this new non-profit board and the organization is limited to the administration of these funds.
If you want to learn more about this new entity and board, you can find key documents and details here. We will continue to post relevant documents and information for the entire community to review.
Simultaneously, as we approach our short term goal, we are starting to shift to considering longer term priorities. Here are some actions we have been taking to that end:
- Survey of Parent Questions: A survey was circulated to parents to learn the topics you are most interested in hearing more about. If you have not completed this survey, we ask you to complete it by tomorrow, Friday. We hope to use that input to develop the PAC’s priorities for the next stage of our work.
- Community Meeting: We are working to schedule a community meeting with members of the PAC and interested caregivers, stay tuned for timing soon.
Thank you all again,
Erik & Merry (on behalf of the PAC)
