Email regarding June 12 Payroll

The email below was sent from FOJP’s President to Shilpa Taneja on June 3, 2026, and shared that morning with the staff and teachers at Croft JP:

We understand there are questions among teachers and staff concerning the last payroll, which we want to address.

To be clear, FOJPE raised enough to pay a full final payroll. Unfortunately, Oxford controls the payroll process and sets the wire amount – apparently 80% of a paycheck (for 12 out of 15 days in June, given the last day of school on the 12th). FOJPE cannot wire more than is set in the payroll system. FOJPE immediately raised concerns about this with Oxford and volunteered to pay more but Oxford refused to increase the payroll amount to allow FOJPE to pay.

FOJPE will meet this Friday to approve any final school operating expenses that are necessary to keep the school open through June 12 as well as any costs necessary to dissolve the entity (legal fees, tax filing fees, other expenses). After that, FOJPE intends to donate that difference to the staff fundraiser. We hope to know that amount soon.

We cannot express to the teachers and staff the depth of FOJPE’s gratitude for how they have cared for our community’s children over the past months through this devastating situation. The teachers and staff are owed so much more than 100% of the last payroll that FOJPE was prepared to provide.

Please feel free to share this message with others as necessary.

With appreciation,

 FOJPE
